Bailey

Bailey is our Welsh Pembroke Corgi. Sadly we lost him to lymphoma on 5-10-2011. He was almost 13 years old. He was our first family dog and Corgi. We fell in love with him instantly when he was just 8 weeks old. There is no breed like a pembroke and we look forward to having one in our life again.

WE LOVE YOU BAILEY !!

WELCOME CODY!

So we have been looking for a few months to add another Pembroke back into our home. Though we can never replace Bailey & would never try, there has been an empty space since he left. We decided that we really wanted to rescue this time & were surprised @ how few there seemed to be in our area. When we did come across one it would be adopted before we could even call. But we found a beautiful TRI boy about 45 minutes from our house. We called Saturday to confirm he was available & hopped in the car. We fell in love with him and he with us. We couldn't bring him home that day but got a call yesterday he was ours. As of tonight he will officially be ours and we are so excited! I will post pics as soon as I can.

Finally Home !!

It feels as if I have been gone forever. As I posted I was in AL @ my parents house with the 2 kids and 2 dogs. After 2 very hot weeks there I spent one night home in ATL. I got up the next day and after a brief Dr appt started the 7 and 1/2 drive to my childhood home in FL, ALONE. I know I know, you're thinking if it was SO HOT in AL why in the world did I go to FL. The answer now is because I was not thinking very clearly. However at the time I was looking forward to some time to do what I wanted when I wanted and not hearing any whining of the name MOM or barking from my loveable mouthy canines. I also have several friends there that I grew up with. While I managed to accomplish the doing and the quiet the humidity made it a very miserable week. I spent alot of time with my GF that I graduated HS with and that was great. I actually saw an adult movie with another adult and got to eat @ several restraunts we never go to. With a family of four eating out can get expensive quick. I wont share all the gory details of the humidiity. Suffice to say though I would have gotten less soaked taking a shower fully clothed than I did walking to my car.

So now we are all back home and the kids start school on Monday. ME: YAAAY!!  KIDS: BOOOOO
Hopefully since I will now be home with just the furries in the AM I will get this blog really going.

Summer heat

I've been reading all the blogs and posts about this "wonderful" summer heat. It is so hard for the little furries to get out and play when it is so HOT! I am in AL right now and it is a scorcher. This got me thinking about Bailey and how we used to get him ready for summer. Around the beginning of June we always took bailey to get a summer cut. We would get him a bathe and a shave. He would be almost completely white when he came home, but he LOVED IT. It seemed like it renewed his energy and I never saw him with a bigger smile! I don't have access to my laptop right now for a picture but when I do I will post one. I know it's not typical to shave your corgi but trust me they will thank you and it ALWAYS grows back in time for the cooler months. Only two words of caution, DON'T let them give them a military cut, it does look a lil silly, but go SHORT. Also if your baby is a little thicker around the middle as ours was. you won't be able to blame it on fluffy fur for a while. LOL

Who are Izzy and Buddy

I am going to introduce you today to the other two dogs who are still with us. The post will be up a bit later with photos. Izabella Rosaleanie Wolfe AKA Izzy is a beagrador and Rufus Buttafoocoe Wolfe AKA Buddy is a terripinshund. I will explain the names in breeds in the next post. For now good luck trying to figure out their mixes and post a comment if you think you know.

Thunder Chaser

We had a bad thunderstorm here last night. There was no barking in the house even though we still have two dogs. These two are scared of thunder and run for the nearest bedroom to hide. Not Bailey though, he would run the house barking like crazy. Don't know how he thought he was going to herd the thunder but that never stopped him from trying. Sometimes he would get going so fast that he couldn't stop and would slide right into the front door. =]  We really missed him that night, but times like that always get us talking about all the great times we had with our Bailey.

Pembroke Love

We are just starting to look for another pembroke to share our love with. Those of you who own one know that life is not complete without that smiling face and wiggly butt. If you know of any corgis in need of a good home please let us know. I will be posting more soon, likely starting with Bailey's story. I hope you love reading about him as much as we loved having him.
